1. Tell us a bit about yourself

Hello! My name is Hannah, I am a volunteer at Forces Support Charity Shop in Welwyn Garden City. In my spare time, when I’m not busy volunteering, I like to go to gigs and festivals and I like to paint watercolour pictures!

2. What do you do within your volunteering role/roles?

When I am volunteering at the Forces Support charity shop in Welwyn Garden City, I get stock out, price it and then put the stock out on the shop floor, I help customers with general enquiries, work on the till I take in donations from customers and also keep the shop tidy.

3. How long have you been a volunteer?

I’ve had a number of various roles over the 9 years I have been volunteering, these include painting scenery for plays at The Barn Theatre, serving cream teas at Mill Green Museum, assisting art groups at Courtyard Arts and helping out in Oxfam and Isabel Hospice Charity Shops!

4. Why did you decide to start volunteering?

I decided to start volunteering to help me gain skills and confidence and to help me socialise more.

5. Why would you recommend volunteering to others?

I would recommend volunteering to everyone as you can make new friends, socialise with people and learn from others at the same time!

6. Is there anything you’ve been doing specifically relating to or because of Coronavirus that you’d like to tell us about?

During and because of coronavirus, I have been going on walks with my neighbour opposite my house, which helps us both by getting out and about in nature and has improved my mental health in doing so!
